100 Book Challenge

Teachers across the United Kingdom voted for the books they thought all children should read before leaving primary school. There are picture books, chapter books, funny books, old books and newer books. The list covers a wide range of fiction.

We would like to challenge all children at George Eliot to read all 100 of these books before they leave Year 6. Some of the books on the list are favourite picture books like The Gruffalo and We’re Going On A Bear Hunt that can be enjoyed over and over again by children of all ages. Other books on the list are longer pieces of fiction that can be enjoyed by children in Key Stage 2, including Black Beauty and The Chronicles of Narnia.

We have many of these books in school for your child to borrow from the book corner or you could visit one of our brilliant local libraries.
