Achievements
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved our Gold Healthy Early Years Award! The Early Years team have been working closely with the Oral Health Promotion Team over the past 2 years to educate our children and families about how to maintain good oral health.
We would like you to continue the good work at home and support your child to:
Brush their teeth morning and night using a fluoride toothpaste.
Keep sugary foods and drinks to mealtimes – fresh fruit, plain water and milk are great for in-between meals.
Visit the dentist regularly for check-ups – it is free for children.
At the Active Westminster Awards ceremony in December 2017, George Eliot Primary School was presented with the Active School Award for 2017 for successfully achieving its Healthy School target to increase the amount of children reporting that they enjoy being physically active.
It also achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold Healthy Schools awards in only one year. The school has also organised additional training to staff to deliver active playtimes.
The Active Westminster Awards recognise those who change lives through their dedication and contribution to physical activity, leisure and sport.
The Active Schools category is open to Primary, Secondary, Special schools and Further Education Colleges in the City of Westminster.
To be eligible for the award, schools must have:
- improved activity levels amongst all students by working with others and using the Physical Education (PE) premium funding to improve the quality of PE and school sport
- achieved at least two hours of PE and School Sport each week for all pupils
- given access to a range of competitive sport opportunities to all students throughout the year
- achieved Healthy Schools bronze, silver or gold
We are very proud to have been recognised for our work to promote healthier life-styles.
