  • School Street Changes

    Fri 02 Dec 2022

    Dear parent/carer,

We hope this communication finds you well.

We are delighted to share that Westminster City Council have confirmed further support for our school street. Our school street came into operation on 12th January 2022 accompanied by signage. From December 2022, CCTV will be installed and drivers, who are not residents, will be sent a Penalty Charge Notice. The fines will be issued by Westminster City Council and will be up to £130 per notice.

It is important that parents/carers do not drive through the school street during this time and we ask for your support with this. This means that cars are not able to pass between Carlton Hill and Marlborough Place between the hours of 8:30am and 9:30am and 2:45pm and 3:45pm.

More details can be found in the following letter: School Street CCTV Letter

We are delighted that in partnership with the Local Authority, we can continue to improve the safety around our school.

Thank you for your continued support.

  • A new member of our team!

    Mon 26 Sep 2022

We have had a long association with the charity Pets as Therapy. This organisation links owners and their pets with schools, hospitals, hospices and other  community settings. We have been lucky enough to be chosen to have a new therapy dog. His name is Biscuit and his owner’s name is Helen. Both Biscuit and Helen have had to pass assessments and undergo training to enable them to be able to be in schools.

Biscuit will enable children to spend time with a  very calm and friendly dog and understand how to behave around him and approach him. Many children that find some human relationships challenging can make strong and beneficial relationships with a  therapy dog. Biscuit is very patient and loves being around children and likes listening to children read.

We are fully aware that there are some children that may chose not to spend time with a dog and we are respectful and understanding of this.

We are sure you will join us in welcoming Helen and Biscuit onto the federation team.

  • Ofsted Report - February 2-22

    Tue 19 Apr 2022

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Re: George Eliot Primary – OFSTED Report

We hope that you are all well. It is with absolute delight and pleasure that we share George Eliot’s OFSTED report with you.

    Please find the report below:

    https://primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com/george-eliot-primary/UploadedDocument/22f5a373-a71d-4687-8574-57fa59174b36/george-eliot-ofsted-report.pdf

The inspection was a rigorous process and rightly so. The inspectors quickly recognised the many, many strengths of our school.

We would like to thank our fantastic colleagues for their hard work in making George Eliot the place it is. Most importantly we would like to thank our amazing and inspirational pupils.

If anyone has any questions or queries about the report then please do not hesitate to contact us.

    With very best wishes

  • Launch of our school street!

    Fri 14 Jan 2022

RE: School Street Launch - January 2022

In line with Westminster’s Active Streets programme, a School Street will be installed through an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO) on Marlborough Hill from 12th January onwards.

The full details of this trial can be found by visiting the Westminster website below:

    www.westminster.gov.uk/experimental-school-streets/george-eliot-primary

    Scheme Overview
The trial will come into operation on 12th January 2022 accompanied by signage.  It will last for up to 18 months and the scheme will be monitored to understand the changing traffic and travel patterns that may occur.

Experimental School Streets are part of The Active Streets Programme described above and provides Pedestrian and Cycle Zones (Section 6, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984) outside a school’s main entrance; in operation in the morning and afternoon during school drop-off and collection times, Monday to Friday during term-time.

This will mean that cars will not be able to pass between Carlton Hill and Marlborough Place between the hours of 8:30am and 9:30am and 2:45pm and 3:45pm.

Each trial school street will be assessed for permanent feasibility on a location-by-location basis. After six months of continual monitoring, the trial will be reviewed by the Cabinet Member for City Management.

For any other queries related to this scheme, please contact askhighways@westminster.gov.uk .
